So this is it. A full year gone. It has been fun and I’ve learned a lot. Yesterday I returned my acting portfolio in Kemi and today I showed my TC-portfolio to Leena. Our tech-group just has to do some tweaking on the vuosikello and then I’m done for the year! I have enjoyed learning with the people in the course and there’s a lot that I will surely be using in the future. Now I’m gonna go out, scrape the rust of my bike and go enjoy the sunshine! I wish a great summer to everyone!

p.s. Here’s a funny animation for you to enjoy before heading of to the beach.

I’ve finally finished the first draft of my portfolio and received some feedback on it. I also got around to writing down my thoughts on the virtual vs. physical -project on the wiki. I wonder who likes carrying two mobile phones around?

Now I have to start concentrating on my acting studies portfolio. No rest for the wicked, not atleast before June.

p.s. The M&Ms at the wrap-up meeting were sweet! Thanks Minna.

I have been really busy lately. It seems that everything is due this month. I’ve been commuting to Kemi to the rehearsals of the play that we are doing as a work sample for the acting studies program. On top of that, I have a few essays and other stuff to write before the end of the month, and I am on the tech team working on the technical side of the “vuosikello”-project. So I have been a little busy.

We’ll have our wrap-up session tomorrow. I’ll try to finish my portfolio for the meeting. Better get back to work. I’ll write the last update probably after the wrap-up session.

Garfield is better without Garfield

I tried the Binder application yesterday. The instructions in the wiki were not perfect so it took a moment to get the thing logged in and running, but after that it was really easy to use, though I would have liked a little mroe feedback from the UI (so I would know whether it got my input or not).

I ended up taking a picture of a news article. It was an internet article (earticle ya know or whatever) about mobile internet users. I thought the picture of a mobile phone under a magnifying glass was nice. People choose things for weird little reasons, I suppose.

There seemed to be some problems with the Binder, since after submitting my photo I could only see my own submission in the gallery. Hopefully we can get the material sorted out later for the last part of the task…

So, I missed our team meeting today. I missed a bus, which meant I arrived an hour late to the university and everybody had already left. To make things even worse I think my operator or my phone is not working properly. I couldn’t reach anyone for a few hours. I could rant for hours on end about the “public” transportation here in Oulu, but I’ll save that for another time. Suffice to say I’m one of the many, who are getting tired of the increasingly poor service of the bus monopoly here in Oulu. I wish getting from place to place would be as easy as in Star Trek. “Beam me up, Scotty” *woosh*

I’m gonna try out the binder application tomorrow. I’ve got an idea for a good picture on the subject.

p.s. Making it in this increasingly competitive world requires finding your own special niche. So grab a showel and dig.

Progress report on our calendar project and the portfolio:

We had a project meeting today, which went well. I’d give it 8 and half. We’ll have to come up with the first drafts for wednesday. I’ll try to look into my part tomorrow.

I thought about the portfolio today and even put up a note saying that I should start doing some more work on it. I think I’ll read the note tomorrow.

p.s. recycling is cool.

please buy a used tissue

Today we got around looking at the possible solutions for creating the calendar. We ran into some problems straight away as it would seem that we won’t be able to host anything on the university servers. Yay.

At least we are a little wiser now. I think I could take a small vacation right now. Partying all Easter and last weekend kinda drained my energy reserves…

I’m currently enjoying Easter in Kemijärvi. I think I will take a look at the portfolio, if I get really inspired. First I’m going to enjoy some peace and quiet for a while and maybe take some long walks. Hopefully I don’t get snowblind; sun is shining really bright off of the pearly white landscape. Reetta emailed the new and updated project schedule today. Maybe I’ll take a look at some of the work tomorrow.

p.s. If you’re free 29.3-30.3. consider this, instead of hanging out at the pub: Yukigassen.
Yukigassen is a Japanese snowball fight competition.

Two new projects got launched last Monday: a Vuosikello calendar-project and a media tool testing. We were given mobile phones which have a software for uploading media content online. So now we are supposed to take pictures and videos on a certain topic. We had a meeting on the calendar-project on Thursday. We decided on some tasks and deadlines. It will be interesting to see what will happen next.

By the way, how would you translate Vuosikello? Maybe something like Annualendar?

p.s. Life is a struggle, remember to push to exist.

Pushing to exist

It’s a really sunny day and I realised I should start doing something about my portfolio. (I have to write two this spring!)
